The Spice Girls GEM reunion song Song for her has been leaked online. Of course, fans who were waiting with bated breath went nuts.

The all-girl band reunion has been in the news for over a year now. Under the new name of GEM taken from the initials of bandmates Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown, the members came together to work on new material. The track Song for her was part of the same material. Does it have the same feels as Wannabe? Well, give it a listen.

Song for her is a chorus-heavy track about female empowerment. The lyrics reflect the thought process behind the song: "This is a song for her, you know you light it up, you know who you are. Stand up, stand up, she's got that boom-boom pop, that's something they can't stop. She's got that song for her."

Some fans have slammed it saying it has a Europop feel, which was great for late '90s. But millennials have since moved on, in terms of music preferences. That boom-boom pop kinda stayed back in the pop-disco era. Dialling it back may not have been a great idea.

Bunton has insisted earlier this year that Song For Her was "not a single" but a result of the girls just having fun in the studio. The girls were originally tipped to reunite this year, which would have marked the release of their breakthrough hit Wannabe, but Mel B admitted they are still finalising the details of their comeback Ex bandmates Victoria 'Posh' Beckham and Mel C chose to stay out of the reunion throughout.
