Rahul Subramanian laughs at his own jokes. Do you? Image: Instagram/RahulSubramanian
Rahul Subramanian is that stand-up comedian whose videos pop up as 'suggested videos' when you're bingeing on Kanan Gill and Kenny Sebastian. You click to watch because, what the heck, right? And then excreta hits the roof. (We can't say the S-word).
Sixty seconds into the video and you are hooked. For life. Because Rahul is no Kanan or Kenny. He's Rahul. His own man. His humour is equal parts self-deprecating, sarcastic, I-give-a-damn-about-what-you-think, and earnest. Yeah, a seemingly unheard-of combination, but it works, dysfunctionally so. Need proof? Just tune in to watch his show, Kal Main Udega, on Amazon Prime Videos, a part of the video-on-demand platform's exclusive stand-up special.
So when we had the chance to quiz the funny guy, we made sure our questionnaire was random, like really random, as random as it gets, without a drop of substance anywhere. And he was equally random, too.
