One of the creations to be showcased at London Fashion Week today
London Fashion Week has rolled out its fashionable carpet and the countdown has begun. Our eyes are set on the Indian designers showcasing their collections at the gala. We told you why Rocky S has been ditching Indian fashion weeks and taking his label global. He's all prepped up to unveil his newest line. We've also got our eyes on Delna Poonawalla, who is readying to present a womenswear line dedicated to fierce femininity.
Rookie Manish Malhotra intern to international ramp
Not many know this, but Delna interned with Eskander in London, before working with Manish Malhotra for three years. She's also designed an exclusive menswear prêt collection for designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. In 2014, Delna was invited to participate at London Fashion Week as part of the emerging designers segment, and was selected to open the show. Needless to mention, she's kicked to be back on familiar turf.
Sketches of a fierce woman: London Fashion Week line
Delna's latest collection reflects a dark side to femininity and is aptly titled ‘Dark Mistress.’ The line has a soft, sculptural, and dramatic look. "The design consists of unusual and very complex embroidery work. I’ve used various leather techniques with French-inspired voluminous taseels, made from leather, velvet and lace detailing, thus giving it a theatrical touch," she says. To denote her take on fierce femininity, Delna's gone all out with blood reds and midnight blues. We get a quick peek into what's to come on the runway.
