Sonam Kapoor says it like it is. The actor, who stepped out in style at the 70th Cannes Film Festival red carpet earlier this week, says she does not take any credit for the way she looks. She says her fashion designers, makeup artists and photographers are to be thanked.
Not one to hold back her opinions, Sonam agrees that a lot of hard work goes into looking good at red carpets. And not all of it is solely the actor's handiwork. "I cannot take any credit for that. All I do is walk the red carpet and smile in front of the camera. I think, for my beauty, the first credit goes to my genes, courtesy Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor. For my appearance, the credit goes to my makeup artist Namrata Soni, beauty products by L'Oreal, and the creative team that works for me," she says.
She promptly adds that paps also play a big role in the entire process. "I would also like to thank all the photographers who are clicking good pictures," says the actor. Sonam was praised for her main looks: a sequinned peach Elie Saab dress followed by a prismatic saree by NorBlack NorWhite and a bohemian creation by Anamika Khanna.
Comparisons with fellow Cannes-goers, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, were inevitable. However, such scrutiny does not bother Sonam at all. When asked about her take on Deepika's look, Sonam said, "I think she looked amazing in all her appearances as she was being herself." No scope for a fashion tussle here, peeps.
Sonam knows and understands where the real credit lies.
