Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin, who's currently touring the nation promoting his upcoming biopic Azhar looks pretty kicked about the Emraan Hashmi-starrer. But rumours are rife that his ex-wife, former Bollywood actor Sangeet Bijlani, isn't as pleased. The reason: Sangeeta is reportedly concerned that her character -- that of Azhar's second wife -- has been portrayed in a negative light, as that of a home-breaker. Nargis Fakhri plays Azharuddin's first wife in the film that's scheduled to release this week. (Read: Nargis Fakhri talks about the pressure of stepping into Sangita Bijlani's shoes)
According to a recent report in DNA, to voice her apprehensions, a frantic Sangeeta called up Azharuddin, with whom she hasn't been in touch for years now. The two parted ways in 2010. “Sangeeta fears that the movie will not show her in a positive light. Even Sangeeta’s Oye Oye (from Tridev) song is part of her portrayal in the film. So, she called Azhar and voiced her apprehensions. And she expressed a desire to watch the film. Since then, they have kept regularly in touch. Azhar informed her that he, too, hasn’t watched the film and has asked the producers for a trial,” a source has been quoted as telling the Mumbai tabloid.
Azharuddin, on his part, rubbished reports about Sangeeta being uncomfortable about the film. (Read: It took a lot of convincing before giving Azhar a nod: Azharuddin)
Azharuddin and Sangeet started dating around 1994, when he was already married with two kids. He divorced his first wife Naureen in 1996 and married Sangeeta. The couple divorced in 2010.
