People, geek chic is not new. What if we tell you Sonakshi Sinha was doing it even before the word was coined?

Recently, Karan Johar shared a major throwback picture of himself accepting an award, with Shatrughan Sinha and Subhash Ghai on stage. Along with the stalwarts was a plump teenage girl rocking a pair of oversized gold-rimmed glasses and oh-so-90s fringes. Now, who can rock gold (almost) as well as Bappi Lahiri? Asli Sona, of course.

KJo wrote, "I have to thank @bachchan for sharing this with me! Remember this @aslisona ?? I have won an award but look like I ate the ceremony!!!! #majorthrowback #doublechinalert" tagging his Kalank actor.

The fact that KJo went from there to his current chiselled cheekbones and pouty jawline is truly commendable. But can we also talk about how adorable Sonakshi looks in the said picture?

And if you look closer, you will be able to spot every '90s kid in Sona right there — flanked by papa ke friends, awkward but have to smile because log kya kahenge and anything but put together. The last thing we'd want is for people to see us looking like THAT. But when did your family and family friends ever let go of an opportunity to embarrass you?

Oh Sona, we hope you know KJo is just messing with you. And you know what? We love your geeky look, even if it doesn't make it to the glossies.
