Sonam and Rhea: Joined at the hip, and the heart Image: Instagram
Bollywod is rife with sibling revelry stories but there is one that stands out for us, and that is Sonam and Rhea Kapoor's. Rhea is the only child of Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor who decided to stay behind the camera, unlike siblings Sonam and Harshwardhan Kapoor. But the bond Rhea shares with big sis Sonam is just unmistakle. They're not just collaborators in film and fashion, but their mutual cheerleading for each other gives us major sibling goals.
Sonam has always, self-admittedly, been the wacky one, while Rhea is calmer and more composed, and likes to keep her head on the shoulders. And at times, she does it for Sonam, too, even though she is the younger of the two. Not too long ago, Sonam wrote a heartfelt message to Rhee bee, as she fondly addresses her, saying she is her pillar of strength. "Dear @rheakapoor not many people understand that I'm still standing at this point in my life because you've always held my hand. You've helped me make every decision in my life and have been there unconditionally through everything. No one is smarter, wiser or prettier then you. No one makes me laugh as much you do and no one exasperates me as much. Love you Rhee bee you the bestest baby sister in the the world!" Sonam wrote one fine September Wednesday.
For the longest time, Rhea was Sonam's personal stylist, and yes, the reason behind Sonam becoming the icon that she is today. It was Rhea who pushed her to experiment with newer fashion trends, cuts and silhouettes, something that no one else in Bolywood was trying out at the time, giving Sonam a clear edge above the rest. Eventually, the sister duo decided to launch their own brand Rheason.
And whenever Rhea has produced a film, Sonam has been by her side, be it Aisha or Khoobsurat. Now that Rhea is venturing into new waters by turning producer yet again with Veere Di Wedding, guess who is there to hold her hand through it all? That's right, it is Sonam. Seems like they've had a role reversal of sorts here. But then what are sisters for?
