Remember the white crisp Naval uniform commander Rustom Pavri aka Akshay Kumar wore in the 2016 period thriller Rustom? Now, thanks to real-life wife Twinkle Khanna, that uniform is going under the hammer to benefit animal rescue and welfare.

The actor-turned-author took to her social media page to announce the news to her and Akki's fans.

"Using all the goodwill I have left to raise money for a good cause. Do bid folks! And thank you @karanjohar @hrithikroshan @sonamkapoor and of course @akshaykumar for giving all this fab stuff to @saltscout toward the Janice Smith trust for animal welfare!," she posted on Instagram.

But Twitter won't have it. All hell broke loose when fans saw Mrs Funnybones' post. Not to forget, this is also the film that fetched Akshay his first National Award. Comments like this "uniform are pride not for auction", "how could you sell Indian Navy's uniform?" and "how much more money you need?" flooded Twinkle's timeline. Some even suggested that if she really wants to do something for animal welfare, she should shell out some money from her own pocket. Ouch.

Fair point guys. But let's just take a moment here to ponder over the fact that the uniform isn't really a uniform but a prop from a film. It is as valuable as Amitabh Bachchan's atrocious Shahenshah outfit. Okay maybe a bit less. But do you get the point?
