The subreddit universe was balanced, and Thanos certainly helped Image: Fortnite/Twitter
A lot can happen over a snap. Not the Snap story, guys. We're talking about the snap of a finger. Umm, Thanos style? Oh come on, get it already.
So, by now every film buff and even those who are not into superhero films know that the Marvel super-villain Thanos snapped his Infinity Stones-powered gauntlet and wiped out half of the universe in Avengers: Infinity War.
With that lot gone, the plot for the fourth Avengers movie – which is still unnamed, BTW – will see what comes after the ruins of that war and will we get the new Avengers (and half of the world's population) back or not. But that's all 2019 talk.
Thanos did the whole wiping out thing again on Reddit. He successfully wiped out half of the subreddit universe. Old habits die hard, we must say. So this is what had happened...
So, subreddit r/ThanosDidNothingWrong, which is solely dedicated to our super-villain, had an official ban bet thread. Members happily subscribed to it just to see if they will be banned from it or not. And out of the close to 715K subscribers, only half survived. The remaining lot was moved to the subreddit, r/InTheSoulStone which is their new home.
Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos in the Marvel movies, participated live in the event and the within minutes of him snapping his finger in the Insta-video, the purge began.
After the 'mission was 'complete', the helmer of the subreddit who started the bet, The-Jedi-Apprentice, posted how he will be stepping down, just like Thanos did. He wrote, "I am following in the footsteps of Thanos. The mission is complete, and balance has been restored. I am going to return to the life I had before this whole thing began, so that, just as Thanos said in Infinity War, I may ‘watch the sun rise on a grateful universe.'"
Even directors Joe and Anthony Russo participated in the event. While Joe survived, Anthony was purged.
Wow! The sheer scale of it is amazing and the spirit of the Netizens is commendable.
Hearing and reading all of this certainly gives us a déjà vu. Phew!
*wonders if we would survive or be wiped out*
