Sunny Leone-Arbaaz Khan starrer Tera Intezar has been embroiled in a controversy just four days ahead of its release. Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the producers of the film for using the word ‘Barbie’ in a song featuring Leone, without the permission of the American toy company Mattel.
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, the company has alleged that the title and the lyrics of the song have used their registered and well-known trademark without their permission and “in a manner antagonistic to the values and interests of the customer's target base, the plaintiffs cater to.”
The company has further alleged that the song, Barbie Girl, featuring Sunny is not suitable for children and is "provocative and inappropriate for younger girls and children, tarnishing and degrading the distinctive quality of the mark 'Barbie'."
Tera Intezaar is an erotic thriller, directed by Raajeev Walia, and has been given an A certificate by the censor board. The film releases this Friday.
