We ARE a star struck nation. When a celebrity (big or small) makes a public appearance, it can create euphoria. And chaos.

Delhi witnessed such chaos when Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor, along with author Chetan Bhagat, came out at the open ground at the India Gate to promote road safety. Arjun is currently shooting in Delhi for his next, Half Girlfriend, authored by Chetan.

While the event hosted by the Delhi Traffic Police was a hit, a huge crowd gathered in the area to get a glimpse of Arjun. Commoners howled, paparazzi hovered, bikers meandered through the crowd. Buses and cars moved at snail's pace to bypass the crowd that had gathered around the cordoned-off zone around the India Gate hexagon from where roads lead to six directions. Any conjestion at any point at this central Delhi location generally makes the Delhi traffic come to a standstill.

Road safety awareness campaign. Ahem. Did we just defeat the purpose?
