While we are slowly waking up to body positivity, with celebs, designers as well as health experts strongly criticising body-shaming and unrealistic body goals, very few of us can claim never to have been body-shamed — either for being too skinny or too fat. And celebs, too, haven't had it any different. Sonakshi Sinha, who is now a regular face on the ramp at various fashion weeks, had her share of struggles.
During a recent appearance on a chat show, the Ittefaq actor admitted to being fat-shamed by a celebrity model while she was walking the ramp during her early days in the industry.
Sonakshi said that while she she was backstage, waiting to hit the ramp, a celebrity model referred to her as a "cow". Without divulging the name of the model on Neha Dhupia's BFFs with Vogue, Sona said, "She was like, 'what is this cow doing on the catwalk?'”
Sonakshi, who initially faced a lot of criticism for her curvy body, was accompanied by designer BFF Manish Malhotra on the chat show. When Neha further prodded the Dabangg actor to reveal the name of the model, Manish quipped,"...ahh Shamita Singha!”
On the show, Manish also tried to hook up Sonakshi with his nephew, filmmaker Punit Malhotra, who directed the Imran Khan-Sonam Kapoor starrer I Hate Luv Storys (2010).
“One of the many names I keep recommending to Sonakshi is my nephew Punit Malhotra. I think she is single till date because she is very emotional, and she is a bit different from all the girls of today. I don’t think she is a player," said Manish, while giving away Sona' single status. Ahem!
