One of the longest-running TV shows, Sasural Simar Ka, has earned its place in the league of popular daily soaps such as Balika Vadhu, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. It has achieved the feat of airing 2000 episodes. And actor Rohan Mehra is one proud man.

The Rashmi Sharma show, which has been on air since the last six years, was in the news a couple of months ago as the channel (Colors) decided to end it, so as to accomodate one of its new offerings.

However, the makers revamped the show with a leap, thereby introducing Rohan's character. This luckily worked for them. A thrilled Rohan took to Instagram to share the news with his fans. "A proud moment as our show completes 2000 episodes! #historycreated #ssk #gratitude," he wrote.

The 2000th episode went on air last evening.

While it received a lot of flak for some of these methods — such as the introduction of a shape-shifting serpent, the protagonist's transformation into a fly and a ghost, the presence of demons and witches, the show didn't give up on the TRP race.
