Welcome to Rakesyh Om Prakash Mehra’s imaginarium. Mirzya teases yet again, without revealing the faces of its protagonists fully. Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher remain are caught inside frames and silhouetted.
The movie is essentially drawn from the Punjabi folk tale of Mirza Sahiban, where the protagonists fall in love in contemporary times. The plot also plays out in a parallel world of the past when tribes ruled parts of Ladakh and the difficult Hindu Kush terrain that connects Central Asia to the Indian subcontinent.
Shot in the rugged yet picturesque terrains of Rajasthan and Ladakh, Mirzya also marks the debut of Anuj Chaudhary. Niharika Khan Bhasin does costumes of the past-imagined tribal era. Shankar Ehsaan Loy have composed the music and Gulzar has written both its story and lyrics.
