Scarlett Johannson opened up about her personal life in a long overdue interview, and what she has to say calls for attention. The Avengers star recently split from her second husband, French journalist Romain Dauriac, with whom she has a two-year-old daughter, Rose.
"I don't think it's natural to be a monogamous person," she opened up in an interview for Playboy recently. "I think the idea of marriage is very romantic; it's a beautiful idea, but I think it’s work. It’s a lot of work," adds the actor. Scarlett married Romain in 2014, and divided her time between Paris and the US. The Captain America star usually keeps her private life under wraps, but her latest interview sums up pretty much how she's been.
"The fact that it is such work for so many people, for everyone, the fact of that proves that monogamy is not a natural thing," she said. We hear you, Scarlett. And what she has to say should come as refreshing amid the showbiz league's united front to endorse the concept of marriage as an accomplishment.
Scarlett, who was earlier married to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, has finally come clean about her opinions and it's worth listening to. "I think marriage initially involves a lot of people who have nothing to do with your relationship, because it’s a legally binding contract, and that has a weight to it,"she said, and the fact that this is her second marital split only adds weight to her thoughts. Not the other way round.
"Being married is different than not being married, and anybody who tells you that it’s the same is lying,"she adds. Scarlett's statements might make some showbiz heads turn. Especially her ex-husband Reynolds's, who is very public about his marital 'bliss' with wife Blake Lively and could spend some time listening to his ex. On the work front, Scarlett, who will next be seen in the American science fiction Ghost in the Shell, is on pretty good terms with Romain, and was seen hanging out with him at an art exhibition recently.
