Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's next directorial Mirzya stars Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher Fotocorp
It indeed makes us happy to see a talented craftsman like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and master wordsmith like Gulzar join hands for Mirzya. Like all his previous films — Rang De Basanti, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Aks and Delhi-6 — Mirzya will be a visual delight, but the proverbial cherry of the movie will be Gulzariya – Gulzarsahab’s poetry. FYI, Mehra refers to it as Gulzariya.
Now, didn’t someone say, the pen is mightier than the sword. For the first time Mehra has collaborated with the ace lyricist Sampooran Singh Kalra (pen name Gulzar) on the project. The 82-year-old writer has written the screenplay and lyrics for Mirzya which is touted to be a modern-day adaptation of the Mirza-Sahibaan love story. A source who swears by every written word of these two talented men says, “Mehra refers to Gulzar's poetry as Gulzariya since they have both worked together on Mirzya. Mehra loves Gulzar's writing so much that he thinks it can’t be merely redefined as poetry.”
The film which stars actor Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor and Tanvi Azmi’s niece Saiyami Kher is slated to release on October 7. We can’t wait to see the ace director’s shooting skills and the wise old writer’s way with words.
