It's happening —  MCU bawse Kevin Feige has spoken. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's first female Muslim superhero is totally getting her own movie. Ms Marvel aka Kamala Khan, the Pakistani teenager from New Jersey with shapeshifting abilities, will soon headline her solo MCU outing.

Created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G Willow Wilson, and Adrian Alphona, Kamala became Marvel's first Muslim superhero to get her own comic book and first appeared in Captain Marvel #14 comic in 2013. She eventually got her solo comic series titled Ms Marvel from 2014.

In 2015, the first issue of Ms Marvel won the prestigious Hugo Award for the best graphic story. During an interview with BBC, Feige opened up about Ms Marvel's MCU future.

"Captain Marvel’s shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel," Feige says.

Incidentally, Ms Marvel aka Kamala is greatly inspired by Captain Marvel, and her superhero moniker is also kind of a homage to her. "Captain Marvel represents an ideal that Kamala pines for. She's strong, beautiful and doesn't have any of the baggage of being Pakistani and 'different," series writer Wilson told The New York Times in 2013.

"As much as Islam is a part of Kamala’s identity, this book isn't preaching about religion or the Islamic faith in particular. It's about what happens when you struggle with the labels imposed on you, and how that forms your sense of self. It's a struggle we've all faced in one form or another, and isn't just particular to Kamala because she's Muslim. Her religion is just one aspect of the many ways she defines herself," Wilson added.

Tweeple are of course being all extra with the casting of Ms Marvel and want Priyanka Chopra to play the role of the first Muslim Marvel superhero. Priyanka has already voiced the role of Ms Marvel in the 2016 mobile game Marvel: Avengers Academy.

But some fans have pointed out that Priyanka may not be quite right for the mantle.
