Kristen Stewart is nothing like the demure Bella of Twilight. She's badass. And this time around, when the rebel took inspiration from industry senior Julia Roberts and ditched her Christian Louboutins on the Cannes red carpet, she just achieved badass level: Pro. Kristen walked the red carpet barefoot, protesting the stringent dress code around the Cannes Film Festival. For women, that is.

The 28-year-old actor initially posed for shutterbugs in a metallic mini and a pair of black heels last evening. But as she proceeded towards the BlacKkKlansman premiere, she kicked off her shoes and climbed the steps barefoot.

Of course, the whole sequence was documented by photographers and was also shared on social media.

Over the weekend, Kristen, who is a part of the Cannes jury, too, along with more than 80 other actors and filmmakers, participated in a silent protest on the red carpet to highlight gender inequality in the film industry. We are happy that one of the biggest film festivals in the world is paying attention to the issues that few choose to address.

But at the end of it all, what are we going to do about the heels-only/no-flats policy, Cannes? What's it going to take for you to pay attention to it? Another 82 women?
