Last evening, when Karan Johar unveiled the first few posters of Dhadak — a remake of the Marathi hit Sairat — little did he know that in a matter of minutes, he would be fodder for jokes on online platforms. The film stars Sridevi and Bonney Kapoor's daughter Janhvi, and Shahid Kapoor's half-brother Ishaan Khattar. And Twitter turned savage, seeing the casting, proclaiming KJo as what Kangana Ranaut once accused him to be — the flagbearer of nepotism.
From questions such as "How long will you promote these star kids?" to sarcastic comments like "Hope they have at least acted well, to justify your love for #Nepotism KJo", Twitteratti went on a bash-Kjo spree. Take a look at some of the tweets that followed the resurrection of the nepotism debate post the release of the poster.
What is India's obsession with these star kids??— Sanya💥💙 (@Sanya_Appy) November 16, 2017
Why all the #nepotism when we live in a country where a wonderful range of actors can be found, infact there are so many who have waited but #Bollywood hasn't been fair to them, has it been @karanjohar??#Dhadak #JhanviKapoor
As much as I love Dhadak posters, it sucks to see star kids getting so much importance. Sadly, Bollywood is all about nepotism now. These kids are the future. Don’t even have the same interest left in watching films anymore. All about star kids and their launches 👎— ✨happy birthday lynn ✨ (@raginiiix) November 16, 2017
OMG! @karanjohar is addicted to this nepotism thing. He jus can't come out if it . He's proving again n again that he's father of nepotism.Disgusting.un every single movie he needs a star kid. Sucks #Dhadak— Ronica☔ (@VeroLocks) November 15, 2017

Another nepotism product , this is the sole reason why Bollywood hasn't been able to get what it deserves!!
#Dhadak here comes nepotism kangana u r not wrong ...there is no way for talents .— Aman Singh (@AmanSin68970697) November 15, 2017

While #Sairat was a genius made with Two people with No film Background and Complete Outsiders, Here comes #Dhadak a Copy, Introducing Another Star Kids. That's the Difference b/n NATION and NEPOTISM.
The infamous nepotism debate started in Bollywood earlier this year when Kangana accused Karan of promoting the same when she went on his chat show Koffee With Karan. The allegation didn't go down too well with KJo it sparked an ongoing debate, with jibes flying left, right and centre. Remember how Karan along with Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan took a dig at Kangana at this year's IIFA Awards in New York? A few open letters followed, but clearly the debate is not over yet. No prizes for guessing who's having the last laugh though.
