Sonam Kapoor makes a beautiful bride. Don't you agree? Image: Instagram
A big fat Punjabi wedding is a treat to watch. From the fabulous food to the heavy-duty song-and-dance routines, it's a complete fun fest. What makes these weddings more special are the many rituals. And when it's a Punjabi wedding taking place in a Bollywood family, the fun and drama go several notches higher.
Sonam Kapoor is getting married to Anand Ahuja and as expected, social media has been flooded with pics and videos from the wedding functions. Of the many videos from her sangeet, there's one featuring Sonam and her cousin Janhvi that has gone viral. Sonam, like the typical Punjabi bride, wore chudha (red bangles traditionally worn by the bride) and kaleere (danglers attached to the chudhas).
As per rituals, the bride has to drop the kaleere on unmarried girls, and it is believed that the person on whose head the kaleere falls, is next in line to get married.
In the video, Sonam can be seen trying to drop the kaleere on Janhvi's head, who looks pretty scared. "Sorry, jaanu," Sonam can be heard saying as Janhvi gets up from the chair.
But looks like Janhvi is not going to get married anytime soon. Note the smile of relief on her face after Sonam failed to drop the kaleere on her head.
Now, that was a narrow escape Janhvi. Phew!
