Alia Bhatt turns 25 today, and much like any other 25-year-old, she's had her fair share of boy troubles. For the longest time, her relationship (or the lack of it) with Sidharth Malhotra kept rumour mills well-oiled, and now the focus seems to have shifted from the real Sid to the reel Sid, Ranbir Kapoor.
Work on Brahmastra is on in full swing, and so are reports of the two lead actors cosying up. Now, given that you're more likely to have your prayers answers by God than have Ranbir respond to link-up rumours, all eyes (and mics) are on Alia.
And Alia has finally spoken up. In an interview to Hindustan Times, the Raazi actor said, "I strongly believe that ‘silence is golden’. It’s not as if I’m never going to have a personal life. I will and I do have one, but I feel it’s called ‘personal’ for a reason. That’s why it will always stay close to me."
Isn't this exactly what Sonam Kapoor had said on an episode of Koffee With Karan when Karan Johar asked her why she is so guarded about her private life? In fact, this line is so Sonam-esque that she could get a patent for it. Sonam's argument was that talking about someone's personal life takes away the focus from their work and she wants to be known for her work and not her link-ups. What work, you may ask, but that's the subject for another story.
Alia seems to be toeing the same line. Except for the fact that this 'icon in her 20s' actually does have a repertoire of work to boast of. Also, is it just a coincidence that both Alia and Sonam had the same response when reacting to rumours of being linked to Ranbir?
As far as we are concerned, we hope this is the only lesson Alia has taken from Sonam, and absolutely nothing in acting. *eye roll*
