Ever since Irrfan Khan went under the weather, there has been a lot of speculation around the cause of his detriorating health. And after the actor revealed that he is suffering from a rare disease, rumour spread like wildfire with many being almost sure that he is suffering from brain cancer. Notwithstanding that the family never even hinted at it. No amount of reassurance from the actor or his wife Sutapa Sikdar were enough to stop the speculation.
Finally this afternoon, the Life of Pi actor took to Twitter to reveal the name of the disease that he is suffering from. Sorry rumour-mongers, it's not even related to the brain. Irrfan has been diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumour. We know you just Googled it! And that's exactly what Irrfan doesn't want you to do.
The actor issued a statement, talking about his current health condition and the way ahead, and simultaneously took a dig at those who've been researching about his health online, and coming to all wrong conclusions. Trust Irrfan's sense of humour even at this hour of illness. Guess that's the mark of a true actor — to keep fans entertained, come hell or high water.
"NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to do research ;-) To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell," read a part of the statement issued by Irrfan, who is flying out of the country for advanced treatment.
Irrfan was supposed to start shoot for Vishal Bhardwaj's next co-starring Deepika Padukone. But with both actors being unwell (she developed severe back pain during the shooting of Padmaavat), the schedule has been pushed indefinitely. We wish the two a speedy recovery.
