If you have never tasted criticism — wait, that's not possible. We face haters, thus we exist. Be it at work or college, at home or even among your intimate friends, our actions often invite judgement followed by criticism.
And then you start doubting yourself. "What if I am wrong and she/he is right?" We end up questioning our conviction and eventually lose confidence in ourselves.
So what do you when you feel bogged down by all the negativity? Well, perhaps a few anecdotes from someone else's life could help you sort your thoughts?
We're talking about Sunny Leone. Now it is no secret that Sunny shot to fame as an adult entertainment star. If you think people hate her today for her line of work, think again. Turns out Sunny has been receiving hate mails since she was 21, when she stepped into the adult entertainment business. But she never let the negativity get to her.
"Many people have the misconception that people started criticising me when I decided to come to India, but that is not true. I started getting hate mails and criticism when I was around 21 years old. So it has nothing to do with the country, but society in general. That was the first time I faced real hatred... at the age of 21, when you see people are saying really nasty things about you, it affects you so badly... I was vulnerable and broken from within emotionally," Sunny told a news agency.
But Sunny is unapologetic and unfazed by all the hate. "But I want to say that I love my life the way it is and everything happens for a reason. I have no complaints," she added. In fact, she believes her upcoming series, Karenjit Kaur — The Untold Story of Sunny Leone, is an answer to all those who spewed venom on her, the true story of how she grew even in the wake of all the negativity.
Granted that Sunny's path is vastly different from us, but the lesson is crucial. Never give up, and this too shall pass. Isn't that all you needed to hear to push yourself through?
