A blood-smeared Saif in Sacred Games Image: Netflix
After months of leaked behind-the-scenes images, Netflix has finally released the official first look of Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer, Sacred Games. Needless to say, it has managed to pique the interest of serial bingers.
A blood-smeared Saif is seen pointing a gun, while Radhika looks lost in her own web of thoughts in the first look. Nawaz, on the other hand, gives a cold stare that runs a chill down our spines as he looks at his reflection in the mirror.
The Netflix offering, which is based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel Sacred Games by Vikram Chandra, follows the life of a policeman, a criminal overlord and a Bollywood filmstar in this eight-part web series.
Along with the first looks, Netflix also shared a precursor to the story that makes us want to tune in to it right now. Sartaj Singh, a seasoned and cynical Bombay police officer, played by Saif, is summoned by an anonymous tip one morning, a voice which promises him an opportunity to capture the powerful Ganesh Gaitonde, criminal overlord of the G-Company, essayed by Nawaz. As the stakes get higher and Sartaj seeks knowledge of his prey, it becomes clear that the game the two players thought they were engaged in is, in fact, part of a much larger scenario, one that expands beyond their city.
While both Radhika and Nawazuddin have ventured into web series, Sacred Games marks Saif's debut in the world of video-on-demand. In addition, this will also be Anurag Kashyap's first time in the digital space, who is co-directing the show with Vikramaditya Motwane.
