Sex sells. And with that notion in mind, Ekta Kapoor's new web series, Gandi Baat, features what happens when a conservative society is exposed to unlimited data and a sexually explicit world of the Internet.

Even before the pilot episode has gone on air, the trailer has been getting a lot of negative feedback with some people suggesting that the clip be removed from social media and YouTube.

The sensational two-minute-long trailer starts with an adult content disclaimer, and as it proceeds further, an aged man is seen throwing himself at his daughter-in-law, and a young boy is seen making sexual advances on his sister-in-law, among many other explicit scenes.

According to a statement from the production house, each episode of the Alt Balaji series will show different relationship stories and taboos, and will explore tales that exist in every section of the society but are never spoken about or discussed openly. With an apt punchline — Urban stories from rural India — the series is slated to have 10 episodes.

Tweeple obviously can't digest the fact that such bold slice-of-life stories are being shown on screen. Of course, in a society where watching porn stealthily is the norm, one can't expect better.

Some have gone to the extent of asking Ekta's good friend, the minister of information and broadcasting Smriti Irani, to ban the show for its "kinky" content. While others are disappointed with sanskari Ekta for making such a 'gandi' show.

Here are some of the reactions from Twitter:
