If only Ranbir knew what he was missing out on... Image: Facebook
You know what they say about one man's meat being another man's poison? Such was the case with Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. No silly, we're not talking of Deepika Padukone, but we can see why you'd think that.
Turns out Ranveer owes Ranbir one (apart from Dippy, that is). And this one dates all the way back to Ranveer's debut film, Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), the Yash Raj venture that permanently cemented Bittoo Sharma in our hearts and Bollywood, bread pakodi ki kasam!
"Ranbir Kapoor said no to Band Baaja Baraat. YRF was looking for a new face I got a call, and I knew this was the opportunity I was waiting for. ... I got a massive launch, essentially for an 'outsider', opposite a reasonably recognisable star Anushka Sharma," Ranveer told Rajeev Masand during an interaction at a recently-held media summit.
Now that we look back, we wonder if Ranbir could have pulled off a Bittoo? TBH, naah. As much as we like RK's sincerity, Bittoo needed a type of screaming madness that only Ranveer could bring to the table. Something that's now identified as his brand of acting.
As for RK, what were you thinking really?
