So, who is going to be B-town's Archie? Imaging: Tapasri Saha
Popular comic-book character Archie Andrews is on his way to get a Bollywood makeover in the form of a live-action film. While there is no word on the cast yet, we are only too curious to know who will, rather, who can play the Riverdale High School hearththrob.
To making the job of Bollywood directors a little easy, we have turned casting director for a day. And we've picked five dudes from the Hindi film industry, who we feel can do justice to the role of the freckle-faced teenager.
He has already shown us a glimpse of his teenaged side in his debut film Student of the Year. In the film, just like Archie, he was quite popular among girls in his college and they all wanted him to be their bae.
Remember Tiger Shroff's stint as our desi superhero in A Flying Jatt? And if the makers have to present the macho side of Archie — think of his action-packed avatar as Captain Pureheart — then Tiger is the best bet.
Music has always been an important part of Archie’s life, and so has it been with our desi rockstar Ranbir Kapoor. If you check out his filmography, you'll see that most of his films have centred around music — be it Rockstar, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Jagga Jasoos or his debut film Saawariya. It would be interesting to see him performing some bubblegum pop this time.
Ishaan is a newbie, currently working on Karan Johar's Dhadak, also featuring Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor. Ishaan's pompadour hairstyle is quite similar to Archie's and that's just one of the reasons why this 22-year-old can be perfect for the role.
There's no doubt that Archie is a goofball. Just look at his poker face. So, if we have to show Archie's goofiness with a straight face, which makes him such an endearing comic character, then Sidharth Malhotra can ace the part. We have already seen him go poker face in Ek Villain and Baar Baar Dekho (and no, we're not talking about his acting skills).
