There's nothing a holiday cannot fix. Alia Bhatt will tell you so Image: Facebook
Most actors will tell you the only way to deal with a failure is not to dwell on it for too long. For success and failure are just two sides of the same coin. But for a young actor like Alia Bhatt (she is just 24 FYI), it wasn't that easy. So when she tasted failure for the first time, and that too on such a large scale, after Shaandaar tanked at the box office, she decided to take off on a solo holiday. Yup, just like they show in the movies.
Talking about the ups and downs of her career to Shah Rukh Khan in an episode of Lux Golden Divas — Baatein with the Badshah, Alia said, "Ninety per cent of my films fared well at the box office. But there has been one failure... Shaandaar didn't work at the box office. I was heartbroken. I could not believe it."
Alia turned away from everyone and spoke to her father, Mahesh Bhatt, and then decided to do something she'd never done before. "I turned to my father. He was the only person I was speaking to, and then I went on a holiday solo to mourn the loss," she said.
Eventually, the holiday and some alone time to contemplate her career choices helped her get back on her feet. "The bandage had been ripped. I have faced my first failure, and I will be ready for whatever comes. My father sent me this poster with Frank Sinatra's quote 'The best revenge is massive success'," she concluded.
So if you've been holding off a trip, it's time you take a cue from Alia. If the holiday doesn't rejuvenate you, which we're sure it will, you will get the much-needed 'me' time to re-evaluate yourself. Now, we know what we're doing this year-end. Hope you got the hint, too.
